President Roosevelt plans to seek authority to decide when to begin riveting new ships as part of a $1.509 billion supply measure. A treaty-limited navy is authorized, with decisions on build quantities to follow appropriations and possible immediate starts.
Masayuki Yokoyama, Japan’s Consul General in Geneva, portrays Japan as a social welfare ally rather than a warrior, reiterating Asia for Asians and opposing foreign meddling in China. Mercer Wisconsin April 25 The hunt for John Dillinger intensified with 5000 officers involved though no sighting occurred since his disappearance from Littles Bohemian resort near Mercer. DOJ division of investigation vowed pursuit and rumors circulated but nothing confirmed about the famed outlaw's whereabouts.
In Santa Fe on April 25 AP reports lawmakers explaining their positions on a sales tax bill. Several deputies defend or oppose the measure, noting burdens on the public or the need for emergency funding. After initial votes 45 members had cast ballots.
Part of the soil erosion program on the Navajo Reservation includes training Indians for Indian Service jobs. About 400 Indians are employed as laborers. training will prepare some for better positions. Hugh G. Catkins, regional director, said numbers will rise with work needs as Indians receive preference for qualifiable jobs.
Four gunmen robbed the First National Bank of Levelland of about $2,500 today and fled west in a US Ford sedan toward the New Mexico line. The scene was in Levelland, Texas, with authorities pursuing the suspects after the morning daylight theft.

Texas federation leaders attend and Mrs Geline MacDonnald Fowman, national president, will speak at a Saturday dinner. Over 200 women expected for banquet.

Plummer Murrell a prisoner from Chaves county at the state penitentiary in Santa Fe was stabbed today and not expected to live. He stabbed another prisoner named Works yesterday with an ice pick but Works was not critically injured. Officers seek Murrells mother Mrs Sears and ask anyone with her whereabouts to notify the sheriff's office.
Washington April 25 announces President Roosevelt sent to the Senate the nominations of over 100 postmasters. Included is Mary Mc Cullough of Roewell New Mexico among the nominees for federal postal appointments.
