April reports detail frost damage in the Pecos Valley City and surrounding areas with fruit buds blasted and orchards damaged while Grand Valley and nearby districts report minimal impact. A south storm sweep caused property loss and two fatalities in Alabama and Mississippi.
A severe storm struck Greenville Alabama just before noon, damaging the Greenoa hotel, six stores and many homes. In Forest Home twelve miles away several houses lost roofs and a negro man and woman were injured while a negro woman was killed under a house.
Kansas City stock market summary shows cattle receipts at 200 with steady tone. Native and southern cattle ranges, with hogs at 5 to 10 cents lower and sales between 8.50 and 9.75. Sheep receipts about 1,000 with steady market for muttons and lambs, and Western fed sheep prices noted.
Annapolis reports Midshipman Earl Wilson, Navy football player whose neck was broken in a game last fall, died this morning. Medical records indicate the injury would normally have caused almost immediate death under surgical traditions.
Amoy China April 16 The United States cruiser Cleveland has been dispatched to Hankow following anti missionary riots at Changsan. The move aims to protect missions and establish a demonstration of U S concern amid unrest.
The Wool Market in St Louis Missouri reports steady prices for wool on April 16. Territory and western mediums bring 22 to 24. fine mediums bring 18 to 20. fine wool 11 to 14.
R. F. Cruse announces new ownership of the Texas Snop on S Main with a fresh crew of bands and a new shoer for horses. He invites patrons to visit and see the changes, promising improved experiences and personalized service.
Dalhart April 15. The Dalhart creamery will begin operations April 16 with farmers and business men on hand to witness the launch. It marks the first creamery in the Panhandle and the fiftieth in Texas.
Midland Texas April 13 a car owned by E G King caught fire on a main street and was almost totally destroyed. The occupants were slightly burned before they could escape. The car was valued at 1200 dollars and was not insured.
Chicago April 16 A special to the Tribune says President Taft and Secretary Meyer plan to send the battleship fleet that has been created around the world. The voyage would not culminate until 1912 when a fleet will begin a world tour eclipsing the 16 battleships of 1908 if Congress allows. A Pacific voyage would place a larger fleet than the entire force at the time of the Spanish American War.

Plainview Texas April 3 heavy rainfall last evening more than an hour and another downpour this morning adding to three heavy rains in five days. The output promises a maximum wheat and oat crop for Hale County this year as alfalfa reaches a foot high and crops advance rapidly with new land sales to settlers.
James Wheeler Jr aged 23 died yesterday at his parents home after seeking tuberculosis care. He came here last fall from Noblesville to receive treatment. The parents left for Noblesville with the body, planning burial there, and will return in about two weeks after purchasing land and settling in Dexter. The body was kept at Dilley parlors overnight and shipped this morning.
A stiff wind and light rain hit Amarillo on April 13 with no local damage. Surrounding areas report rain, while Umburger town near Amarillo reportedly lost several houses to the wind, with partial demolition of structures observed.
A voluntary raise in carpenter wages from 3.50 to 4 dollars a day takes effect in Pittsburg today. The increase, not requested by workers, was granted by the Master Builders' Association due to higher living costs.

Amarillo Texas April 13 officials announce a county farm will be created three miles west of Amarillo. A half section is bought for 26 per acre totaling to the farm with a seven room house a deep well and 150 acres in cultivation. A superintendent will be named by the court tomorrow to oversee the site and a home for the officer. This is the first county farm in the Panhandle and one of the few between Amarillo and Dallas.
Fairbanks April 16 Reports from miners to the new Editrod gold fields show a rush greater than Fairbanks six years ago with forty paying claims located on Otter flats. Twenty five dollar pans are common. A population shift to the interior should begin with May navigation opening.

Elida April 12 Prof J D Tinsley of the New Mexico Agricultural College has joined the Santa Fe Railway as its agriculturalist for New Mexico He has established five experimental farms near Elida to study crops seed varieties planting times and soil conditions for the area.
Local 6:00 am observation shows Roswell New Mexico on April 16 with a max of 53, min 28, mean 40 and .04 inches precipitation. Wind NW at 2. Forecast: tonight fair and not so cold with frost, Sunday fair and warmer. Last year’s extremes for this date were 90 high and 46 low. 16 years ago in 1897 the low was 34.
