Tornado Leaves 26 Dead Across Four States
A westward moving tornado cut a deadly path through Louisiana Mississippi and Alabama over the weekend. In Gloster Mississippi four whites and four Negroes were killed and 150 injured while 87 dwellings were blown apart in the town. Gillsburg saw six killed and 14 homes destroyed. Property damage climbs to around 300000 with a mobile area later struck causing additional damage but no fatalities reported. In Lake Providence Louisiana four whites and five Blacks drowned as a large boathouse sank. The storm threat ended after sacking Mobile Alabama with further home destruction and thousands in losses. Death of NM Military Institute cadet in rifle accident
J B Eytinge aged 17 died at Saint Mary's hospital after a bullet wound from a rifle discharged by roommate cadet J B Van Buskirk in their Institute barracks room.
