Jailbreaker Nabbed in Roswell by Local Police
Glenn Burr alias Carl Wayne Knox, a 20 year old Texas jail breaker and ex convict, was arrested by Roswell police after Texas authorities alerted local officers. Burr admitted escapes from Coleman and Odessa jails and a nine month Texas state penitentiary term. He was found in a boarding house and held for Coleman County Sheriff George Robey.

All 16 on Crashed Airliner Saved But Some Injured

SANTA FE N M April 44 Co S Staab of the state comptroller s office was in charge of the Santa Fe county treasurer s office today following resignation of treasurer Uriel Garcia in the face of court action asking his removal. Charging a cash shortage of 1 281 had been found in Garcia s accounts districts attorney David Carmody late yesterday filed a presentment which he subsequently asked be dropped after Garcia had resigned. Carmody said county auditor Andrew Lujan discovered the shortage during an examination. He said part of it had been restored. Garcia was elected treasurer last year after serving four years as deputy treasurer.

Carnival Equipment Moved From Fairgrounds Storage
Equipment of the Crowley United Shows, the carnival attraction at the fair last year, was moved today from the exhibit hall at the fairgrounds where it was stored through winter. Crowley employees labored all week loading the gear and the last of it went out today. It is bound for Moberly Missouri to begin the 1941 season. A contract with Tidwell Shows was signed to operate the carnival at this year’s fair, per W H Hortenstein president of the fair board. The fair remains at the old fair grounds on North Main Street while rodeo moves to the new grounds on West Alameda.
