Arena building committee chaired by Dwain Lawless reports expenditures of 102,684.43 with 28,845.00 in grants and 40 839.43 raised by Lions Club and Building Committee. Outstanding balance 33,000.09. recent donations include 1000.00 from Mrs. Jean Lawless and 6000.00 from the Thomas Stitt estate. A sound system costs about 3000.00. loan backing includes 20,000.00 from Lions Club and 13,000.00 personal loans. Additional 2000.00 approved for fire safety equipment. A new shed houses the ice flooding machine. season readiness planned. Future fundraising aims to retire 35,000.00 debt with hockey game, Rivers Pipe Band concert, and Lions Bingo proceeds.

Library Week Manitoba Declares October Library Week
Manitoba announces Library Week from October 1 to 8 1977 coordinated by the Manitoba Library Association and provincial associations. Rossburn Regional Library hosts a no fines week returning overdue books with no fines and offers free bookmarks. Achildren six and under are invited to a Saturday October 8 puppet show story hour at 2 pm with coffee served from 2 to 5 pm.

Election Vandalism at Shoal Lake Investigated
On Saturday Sept 24 unknown individuals removed more than 20 political signs from Shoal Lake residents supporting NDP candidate Peter Merry. A can of spray paint defaced Merry headquarters windows with obscene comments and abbreviations. RCMP Shoal Lake Detachment continues the investigation.

Rural Council Regular September Meeting
The Rural Municipality of Rossburn held its regular meeting September 12 1977 at 10 00 A M in the council chambers. Attending were Reeve John Mitchell and councillors Ernest Drul Wally Peleshok William Antonow and Joe Dnistiansky. The minutes of the prior meeting were approved and financial statements presented for August 1977 were received. The board discussed AIB guidelines on indemnities and mileage, waivers for By-law 1018 cottage sale, tax sale adjustments and additions, delegations on ice resurfacing funding for Rossburn Arena and Vista property purchase, transfer of surplus tax sale credits to Tax Reserve, attendance at the district secretary-treasurer meeting, and a fire truck progress report to the Village.
