Local voters twice rejected a by law for a fire hall and rest room. An Sunday early morning incident saw the fire engine stolen and driven into Mike Cady's shoe shop, damaging the porch and power meter, before crashing nearby. The writer urges a central warm fire hall to safeguard the engine and crew year round.
Gary Lindsay of Cranberry Portage visited his home over the weekend. Ernest Trakalo and family of Winnipeg are holidaying with Mrs. Teenie Trakalo. Donald Menzies of Listowel Ontario visits the Menzies home. Sunday guests included Mrs. Ross and Gordon and Mrs. Fraser from Binscarth, and Clare Peden of Red Deer Alberta, who attended the funeral of the late Wm. Moulson. District residents also attended the funeral of W. J. Moulson at St James Anglican church on Friday.
Miss Theresa Glushka bride elect for Oct 3 received a miscellaneous shower Sept 5 at Ukrainian Parish Hall. Attendees included her mother Mrs J Glushka and groom’s mother Mrs H Verbowski, plus grandmothers and out-of-town guests from Russell Oakburn Shoal Lake.
Vista notes family and friends attending holidays with Annabelle Brown visiting home before heading to Saskatoon. Several relatives from Winnipeg Branden and Brandon are mentioned visiting and traveling, with well wishes for Mrs Brown’s recovery and a closing line directing readers to fast results in classifieds.
Oakburn will host its second Fastball tournament this Sunday with a large field of entrants. Officials report two men’s teams and two girls’ teams from Oakburn, with additional entries from Lavinia Inglis Lennard and Shoal Lake.

Week end visitors at the home of Mr and Mrs Gordon Taylor included Mr and Mrs Everett Taylor and family of Onanole. Sunday guests were Mr and Mrs Charlie Drummond and Jimmie and Mr and Mrs Ross McKenzie and girls of Brandon. Miss Pearl Ferguson RN of Rochester accompanied by her sisters Mrs Larry Simpson and Mrs Cora Warznock from Winnipeg and her niece Mrs Gertrude Erskine visited friends here during the week end.

Elizabeth Cormack died September 16 at Rossburn District Hospital after a short illness. Born in Wick Caithness Scotland on December 16 1879 she came to Canada in 1891 and lived in Rossburn most of her life. Survived by sister Isabelle and brothers William and Alex. Funeral held September 19 at Rossburn United Church with Pastor Baker. burial in Rossburn Cemetery.
