Federal Health Minister announces increases in October for Old Age Security Guaranteed Income Supplement and Spouse's Allowance to match living costs. OAS rises to 320.08 monthly, GIS to 380.39 for single or certain married couples, and spousal allowances up accordingly.
Rossburn Health Clinic Administrator Avis Stitt announces doctors have arrived, ending a six month hospital closure. Dr. Frank Wattheuer from Cross Lake and Dr. Annabel Gameiro from Winnipeg join the staff, enabling residents to stop traveling to nearby communities for care as of September 1. The facility is returning to normal while the See Clinic on page 3.
The R M of Rossburn council approved first and second reading of By law 1195 to create The Rossburn Foundation Inc with village participation and foundation incorporation. The Rossburn Planning District Board, with three members from each council, includes Leonard Sitko Ernest Drul and John Mitchell for terms ending November 1989. The council also directed tax roll actions under Municipal Act section 758 including adding new assessments and adjusting rates retroactively. The board of revision reviewed 1988 tax roll changes as defined under the act.
