Wesley Strong died at his Rossburn home on September 11 at age 63 years 11 months and 23 days after a long Rossburn district life. He worked as an elevator agent for the Canadian Consolidated Elevator Co since 1929 and was survived by his wife Zilla Mary Locke and six children plus extended family. The funeral was held September 14 at United Church with large attendance, interment at Sossburn cemetery, pallbearers named, and arrangements by N Braendle.
Local residents including Mr. and Mrs. Campbell Miss Elsa Peikoff and others are seen in town. Visitors from Portage la Prairie Edmonton Armstrong and Toronto drop by or travel to see relatives. E. M. Peikoff store closes September 24 then reopens after 6 pm.
Oakburn scenes include Michael Kottick and daughter Marlene visiting, Frank Rudnik hospital patient in Rossburn, J W Smith returning from Winnipeg, A B Fishman visiting Winnipeg after Vancouver trip, Melvin Yanick hospital patient in Shoal Lake, Mrs Steve Matiowsky staying in Winnipeg, Donald Menzies baptized at Oakburn United Church, Modest Gerebes enrolling at St Andrew's College in Winnipeg, Mrs Peter Gerebes visiting from Winnipeg, Mr and Mrs Mike Slon Moose Jaw visiting relatives in town and district.
Vista Mrs. pw csers has been ill for the past few days. We wish her a speedy recovery. Mr. Hector McPhail from Geraldton Ontario renews old friendships in town. Mr. Robert Alexander motored to Newdale on Saturday.
The A C T announces an amateur program at Where Rossburn on September 27 at 8 pm. Entries close by 10 pm on September 20. Proceeds aid a great cause.
Officers elected at the curlers meeting in the Club Room last week include Hon pres W W W Wilson president John Cormack secretary J G Stitt treasurer Russell Hutton membership committee J ne H Alexander H J Bowley and ice and draw committee J Lindsay.

Miss Edner Bolton visiting Miss Sonia Boganski cut her leg on a rusty nail playing on Ekford school grounds and received care from Dr Shaver of Rossburn. William Bolton remains under doctor’s care with limited improvement. Harvesting and threshing progress well, yielding well. A large brown bear roams the district. locals hope sharp shooters stop it soon.
The R.C.M. Police issue a warning about a revived Mexican Prisoner Swindle led by confidence men in Mexico. A letter from a supposed Albert Martin in Vera Cruz claims a trunk of funds in the U.S. Customs House and asks for aid in exchange for one third of the funds. Authorities urge caution against this internationally active fraud.
