Wesley Strong Dies After Long Rossburn Residence

Wesley Strong died at his Rossburn home on September 11 at age 63 years 11 months and 23 days after a long Rossburn district life. He worked as an elevator agent for the Canadian Consolidated Elevator Co since 1929 and was survived by his wife Zilla Mary Locke and six children plus extended family. The funeral was held September 14 at United Church with large attendance, interment at Sossburn cemetery, pallbearers named, and arrangements by N Braendle.

Lightning damages new home in Ekford and other local notes

Mr Stanley Braswo’s new Ekford home was struck by lightning last week causing heavy damage to the exterior wall. Miss Edner Bolton visiting Miss Sonia Boganski cut her leg on a rusty nail playing on Ekford school grounds and received care from Dr Shaver of Rossburn. William Bolton remains under doctor’s care with limited improvement. Harvesting and threshing progress well, yielding well. A large brown bear roams the district. locals hope sharp shooters stop it soon.

Mexican Prisoner Swindle Warns City Residents

The R.C.M. Police issue a warning about a revived Mexican Prisoner Swindle led by confidence men in Mexico. A letter from a supposed Albert Martin in Vera Cruz claims a trunk of funds in the U.S. Customs House and asks for aid in exchange for one third of the funds. Authorities urge caution against this internationally active fraud.
