Enrollment at ROSSBURN COLLEGIATE began September 7 with about 160 students, roughly the same as last year, and current totals reach about 380 including staff and primary grades. The staff list covers numerous teachers across language arts, science, math, Ukrainian, and vocational courses, with roles from principal to custodians and aides.
A second successful Think Rink social was held in Rossburn Town Hall on September 11. Winners in the Draw Prizes included twenty five dollar winners such as Larry Perchaluk Harold Slon Bob and Sue Rachel Ron Verbowski Leonard Mackedenski and Doug Joiner among others and Mike Werbowski won the $250 Grand Prize. All one hundred $25 tickets were sold and the Building Committee thanks the community for support.
Local residents and several out of town guests attended Think Rink Night in Rossburn on Saturday. Among the visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Gil Kryski and Mr. and Mrs. Stu McFadyen of Yorkton Sask both former Rossburn Lions Club members. Others visiting included Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Brown from Winnipeg and Mr. and Mrs. D Bennett of Bredenburg along with Mr. and Mrs. Upshell and family who spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Veitch.
Summer heat returns allowing harvest work to proceed toward early completion. The piece notes a warm season for holidaymakers and records this week’s temperatures 75 high and 28 low compared with last year.
In garden news, a cucumber weighed 2 pounds 13 ounces from Mrs Maron Slon's plot. A Spanish onion tipped the scales at 142 pounds belonging to Mrs Elvie Cameron. Stan Leschasin delivered potatoes weighing 2 pounds 13 ounces and 2 pounds 19 ounces from his Birtle district farm.
The Rossburn council in regular session on September 9 1976 approved several motions including new councillor declaration of office, committee assignments, and attendance at a district meeting. They authorized light installation in a lane, purchase of a dry chemical extinguisher, electors list fee, a 1972 Ford pickup bid rejection, and passage of By law 519. Permits issued include arena renovation for 100000, a garage 1500, and a single family dwelling 20000. Accounts payable totaled 70046.70 general and 5232.98 utility. Meeting adjourned to October 14 7:30.
Wednesday drawings produced multiple prize awards totaling varied amounts. Winners include Elsie Malchuk Joyce Tanner Nora Ledoux Kath leen Belbas and many others with ties and specific payouts noted. The list records participant names and prize values from the Lions Club event.
Sympathy is extended to the family and other relatives of the late Mrs Margaret Joiner who passed away on Wednesday September 15.
