Weather improves boosting harvest across Southwest Region
Dry weekend after a week of rain allows harvests to resume in the Southwest Region. Canola swathed 30 percent in the south and five percent in the north. barley swathed 50 percent in Melita area but only 25 percent in Shoal Lake Minnedosa Neepawa. wheat swathed five percent and 30-35 percent combined region-wide. Winter wheat 30-50 percent combined. Sprouting reported in swathed rye Winter wheat and barley.

Plane Crash Near Onanole Kills Two Men
RCMP report a single engine two seater crashed east of Onanole near Riding Mountain National Park killing two Strathclair men. Russell Vernon Glenn 34 and Donald Fred McDonald 38 were last heard from Friday morning August 30 at about 11 00 A.M. wreckage found by searchers at 8 00 P.M. the same day.
