Heavy rain starting about 6 p.m. kept most away and prevented a meeting of the Rain Mars Dairy and Poultry Co op. Mr and Mrs Alfred Mitchell and family spent the week end in Brandon and Dand Manitoba. Corporal and Mrs Hadley will spend the next month holidaying at Mulgrave NS. Mrs Mansergh of Victoria BC visited her brother Ed Harris and was en route to Montreal to visit a granddaughter and twin great granddaughters. Visitors at the home of Mr and Mrs Vernon Hamilton over the week end included Mrs Earl Lapilure and daughter Deedee and Shirley Hamilton of Russell plus Raymond Cairns of Oak Lake and Fred Posthumus of Brandon. Mr and Mrs Walter Armstrong and Mr and Mrs George Armstrong of Flin Flon returned from a motor trip to Milwaukee visiting relatives. Highlights included a visit to the Wisconsin State Fair and a display of gladioli and other flora and fruits. They attended a Milwaukee Braves vs St Louis Cardinals game with gate attendance of 50 000. They visited a broadcasting station where a show was televised. Wisconsin Dells and Detroit Lakes were noted as beauty spots.

United Church Picnic at Fair Grounds Ends Early
Sunday School picnic at the Fair Grounds drew a crowd from United Church. A ball game between Vista Mission Band and Rossburn Mission Band ended 5 to 4 in favor of Rossburn, but rain halted the event after supper.

Hospital Aid Meeting Plans Tag Day Drive
A hospital aid group met Monday night at the hospital with twelve members. They listed needs including children's pajamas stockings thread and tapes. A tag day is planned for Saturday September 4 and a tag drive is scheduled for later in September.

Lightning Destroys 20 Loads Hay at Kier Farm Yard
