Funeral Rites for John Danyleykee in Rossburn

Funeral services for John Danyleykee were held at his residence and St John’s United church Pete’s Lake with Rev W Winiowski officiating. The 74 year old, born July 5 1880 in Austria, died August 17 after living 48 years with Jessie Varmey. He was predeceased by son Walter and is survived by his wife 7 daughters 7 sons and 5 brothers. Local and out of town relatives attended.

Mervin Trakalo delivered the first barley load of the year to the Rossburn Pool Elevator on Tuesday August 24. The 120 bushel shipment graded 3CW 6 row with a moisture content of 13.3 percent.

Mr. Joe Lipischak and Larry from Atikokan stay with D. M. Lipischak in Rossburn. Dixon Stitt of Winnipeg spent several days in town, bringing Lottie home from Winnipeg. Pastor John Coughlan visits his parents. Norman Bishop and family from Brockville with Joann Langford Ear Falls and A Rowe Forks River visit Mr. and Mrs. Stitt and relatives including George and Walter Shaw from Toronto and Brandon. Blue Cross hospital dues are due by September 1 to Mrs. Otto Elvers Group Leader.

Fish Derby at Fish Lake Nets 131.50 For Local Cause

The Fish Lake fish Derby on Sunday August 22 drew 137 entrants and about 500 spectators. After expenses of 15.00 the event cleared 119.00 with 12.50 donated at the Post Office for road work, totaling 131.50. Bud Glasman won the walleyed pike prize at 3 lb 6 oz and Andrew Kalyniuk won the perch prize at 5 oz. A long donor list and entrant roster are published for distant readers. Volunteers are invited to help scrub Fish Lake Thursday afternoons.

Fire at Vista Damages Tractor Tires and Burned Farmer

Monday morning a fire at Jack Miller's Vista home started while he was refueling a tractor. A. Bilinsky drove Miller to hospital for facial burns. he was not detained. The blaze was quickly extinguished with two front tires badly damaged. More Vista News on pages 2 and 4.

Giant Broad Bean Grows On Vic Halliday Farm

An oddity from the vegetable world arrives at the Review office a broad bean with a 3 inch pid finger shaped pod. The giant pod, two inches wide, was grown on Vic Halliday’s Vista farm and shown as a curiosity.
