Voters in the Consolidated School District of Rossburn elected four trustees on Wednesday. Eugene Caldwell received 167 votes, Lawrence McMillan 160, Earle Taylor 157, and Orest Smycnnik 138, with George Lawless 112.
Patricia Jane Mackedenski wed Bernard Wilock in a 1964 October 3 church ceremony at St. Catherine Roman Catholic Church Oakburn. Father Prybylski officiated as Patricia wore a white peau de soie gown with lace and lily motifs while a bouquet carried by the flower girl.
Rossburn Hospital Committee held a regular general meeting on October 19 1964 at 8 00 p m with B Mitchell chair. Attending were W Perchaluk A Cleland P Wladyka J Lawless S Melmyk L Hrysak and S B Labovich. Minutes from September approved as read and correspondence from Man Hospital Commission about reconductivity tests was read. Labovich will write to Dr Sirett of MHC regarding the matter.
The Rossburn Sewing Club met for its first gathering on October 15. Officers elected include President Linda Clubley, Reporters Janieth Johnston and Margaret Caldwell, with Social committee members Sandra Aylwin, Linda Clubley, Theresa Sawchuk, Patsy Hunter, Beverly Verbowski, Marcia Koscielny, Evangeline Klym. Leaders named are Mrs. H Verbowski, Mrs. H McKnight, Mrs. Nick Maryniuk, Mrs. Mike Kostesky, Mrs. A Sawchuk, Mrs. L C Johnston.
In a Vancouver ceremony the groom was assisted by best man Mr Ray McDonald of Vancouver BC while ushers included Mr Gordon Morris Mr Adam Zarazun and Mr Leo among others guiding guests through the event.
Mr. and Mrs. Darcy Plante celebrated 25 years of marriage with a dinner at the Lobstick on Oct 17. Their daughter Joan presented gifts. extended family and friends from Rossburn and Flin Flon attended. The couple married in Russell in 1939 and have lived in Rossburn, the West Coast, and Flin Flon.
The 1st Vista Wolf Cub Pack begins the 1964 65 year with 12 new members. The first meeting at Mr. and Mrs. W. Stitt home featured a camp fire sing along and team games.
An extension to water and sewer service on Victoria Ave East is being installed by C. C. Construction of Brandon. About 500 feet of water line and 370 feet of sewer line are being added. Mayor Peter Wliadyka reports 10 hook ups are expected from this new extension.
Voters in the R. M. of Harrison return incumbents in Ward 2 John Bachewich and Ward 5 Paul Fedorkie along with others. Sunday sports referendum appears to pass with 275184 across 5 polls reporting. Erickson Village election sees William Earley top with 118 votes and Joseph Lenkewich elected. Linus Miller defeated.
Sandy Lake voters Wednesday rejected their sewer and water referendum by a count of 93 against and 56 for. The outcome ends the proposal without approval in the local election.
A surprise party for the 25th wedding anniversary was hosted at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Andrew on Saturday night Oct 18. Twenty six relatives attended along with 25 year attendants. A lunch and decorated cake followed. Visitors from distance included Mr. and Mrs. T. Bell and Jimmie, Mr. and Mrs. F. Mansell, Lee Lopeter of Winnipeg, and Mr. and Mrs. G. Smith of Plumas.
The Rossburn First Cub Pack will hold a bottle drive on Saturday November 7 to raise funds for equipment needs. Support from the community is appreciated to help the pack acquire needed gear.
Manitoba 4H crowned the Provincial Champion gilt and top showmen at Brandon on October 21. Nineteen gilts competed, with two best gilt selections from the local achievement day. Each club entered two senior and two junior members for the showman title. Judge W. S. May of Strathclair led the senior competition.
