Hyra and Posmituck Elected Councillors in Rossburn Ward Races
In the R. M. of Rossburn elections, William Hyra won Ward Two over Mike Tanasychuk 110 to 102. Hyra also led at two polling places. Fred Posmituck defeated Joe Sitko 130 to 77 in Ward Four, while Sitko led at Luhowy’s 72 to 67. Trustees for the Consolidated S. D. of Rossburn saw six elected with Lorne McMillan 150 and Eug ene Caldwell 141 leading. Kasey Genovey was eliminated with 59 votes.

Farm Business Association Planned in Western Manitoba
A move to establish a Farm Business Association covers Shoal Lake and surrounding towns in Western Manitoba. A Provisional Board of Directors led by Robert Radcliffe and others was formed at Minnedosa after an early August public meeting. Membership was set at 100 with fees of 35 dollars per year.

The Agricultural Council held its annual meeting on October 13 1960 at Shoal Lake Municipal Hall. Attendees included Bert Stevenson Francis Bailey Bill Falloon Bert Mitchell Alex MacPhail Jack Morton Mrs Gordon Jack Miss Louise Batho and others. Mr Muirhead outlined council goals to assist the Ag Rep and Home Economist in planning a yearly program and to promote Extension Service courses and field days. Reports by Miss Batho and Mr Neabel followed, and the session adjourned for spring 1961.

The Rossburn Credit Union Society held its October meeting at the Andrew residence on Thursday the 18th at 8 30 p m. The Credit Committee reported approval of nine loan applications totaling 8931 85 and eight extensions totaling 2972 46. Five new members were approved bringing membership to 177. The next board meeting is set for November 14.

Oakburn hosted International Credit Union Day with about 40 members from Sandy Lake Rossburn and Oakburn attending a social evening. Guest speaker Robert Ingram of the Canadian Office of CUNA praised non profit credit unions as useful public services and highlighted low cost loans among members. North West Chapter No 5 reorganized with officers Eugene Caldwell Paul Mich John Plant and Mike Borodie. Two films were shown by J Searcy and Kristolowich invited the February Sandy Lake meeting.

Pelly Trail Teachers Convene at Oakburn
One hundred eight teachers attended the second Pelly Trail Teachers Association convention in Oakburn on October 6 and 7. The program featured remarks by M. Borodie and A. G. Minish, plus sessions on curriculum, literature teaching, rural school organization, and school bus regulations. A track meet and bonspiel were planned for later.
