A miscellaneous shower was held Saturday October 22 at Oakburn in honor of Miss Sonja Malanchuk a bride elect of November 12. She received a corsage and was escorted to a decorated chair as Here Comes The Bride played. Guests included her mother Mrs Jack Malanchuk aunt Mrs Wm Matiowsky and cousin Mrs Michael Kotyk with corsages. Friends helped unwrap gifts and Sonja thanked everyone. A song A Jolly Good Fellow followed and a lunch was served.

Canadians Second in Inter Provincial First Aid Contest
A five man Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps team from No 10 Detachment Edmonton placed second in an inter provincial first aid competition at Griesbach Barracks. The Calgary Alberta Military Hospital team won. Members were Corporal Don Bruce Corporal Garry Von Hagen Corporal Peter Vet Corporal Don La Plante and Private Victor Francis. Last Wednesday evening staff at the Manitoba Dairy and Poultry Co operative Creamery in Rossburn gathered at Mr and Mrs R Hutton to honor Henry Miller on his retirement. He served ten years with the firm. The event featured an sociable opening and slides shown by R Hutton. The staff presented Miller with an electric shaving mirror and the evening closed with a delicious lunch.
