Rossburn Lions Club met on October 11 and 18 with 22 members and 4 visitors. Turkey Shoot set for October 27. committees formed for Fowl Bingo Fair Fair, public relations urged community input and ideas.
Mrs. Dave Maxwell Diane and Wendel Cleland will appear on Profile on CKOS TV airing November 2. The program will discuss local life careers and community involvement with these figures.
Archie Bradshaw of Morden Manitoba died October 17 at 64. Funeral in Morden October 20 with interment at Carman cemetery. Survived by wife and four children. Nieces Mrs Butler and Mrs Fowler and their husbands were en route to the funeral when they learned two other Bradshaw relatives were killed in Minnesota in a two car and cattle transport collision.
The Ukr. Catholic service united Miss Livia Maria Kornyk and Lawrence Orest Basaraba on September 29, 1962, at a local church. The bride wore whispering taffeta with crystal crown and lilies, with bridesmaids Phyllis Malaniuk Shirley Shmyr Judy Saley and flower girls Wendy and Patricia Kornyk. Reception followed at Rossburn Town Hall with music by the Polka Kings of Dauphin. Out of town guests included Lt. and Mrs. W. C. Kornyk.
Voting Friday October 19 produced clear wins for E Caldwell G Lawless L McMillan E Taylor and rural councillor Wm Hyra in Ward Two. Turnout for Rossburn School District No 2358 was only about 30 percent with 223 of 700 eligible voters casting ballots. Hyra defeated Peter Gensorek 96 to 49 overall with polls at Cleland 30 20 and Wladyka 66 29.
Lions Club hosts a turkey shoot at Rossburn Fair Grounds this Saturday October 27 at 2 00 pm Open sight 22 rifles only Junior competition for boys 15 and under supervised by adults Prizes include Xmas Dinner Coffee and sandwiches available Relatives from Winnipeg Shoal Lake Oakburn Angusville attend as guests and the couple now reside in Dauphin Manitoba
Rossburn 4H reorganization night set for Friday October 26 at 7 30 pm in Rossburn School to plan the 1962 63 Beef and Dairy projects. Open to youth aged 10 to 21 in Rossburn or Vista areas. contact Bert Mitchell Harris Huston or Pat Johnston for details. Also Shoal Lake District Leaders Conference slated November 27 in Rossburn with 60 leaders from neighboring municipalities to elect a new Leaders Association Executive, guest speaker Ed Somers. Grass seed ordering deadline October 31 and evergreen and broadleaf trees for shelter belts available for two weeks. Rossburn Agricultural Office hours 9 am to 5 pm Wednesdays at Municipal Office. visitors urged to come in the morning.
A Rossburn led group visiting Winnipeg discussed extending No 21 Highway from Oakburn to Rossburn and beyond toward Grandview. The ministers promised study and future talks with provincial and federal officials.
