New Band Hall On Waywayseecappo Reserve

The Waywayseecappo Band builds a new hall beside the band office with construction starting in September and due to finish in December. The 48 by 120 foot building will include a mobile stage and host dances weddings pow wows bingos socials and other events. Foreman Robert Shingoose leads ten local workers from the reserve.

Rossburn Rural Municipality Electors Vote for Reeve and Ward Posts

Electors in the Rural Municipality of Rossburn will vote on Wednesday October 25. Three men contend for reeve John Klym John Mitchell and Leonard Sitko. Ward races feature Ernest Drul Dwain Lawless in Ward 1 Ron Kostesky Elmer Sawchuk in Ward 2 Joe Borowski William Maryniuk in Ward 3 and Edward Mychasin Jacob Unrau in Ward 4. Polls run 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Ukrainian National Home and Olha Community Hall.

MTS accelerates elimination of the party line in rural areas

The Public Utilities Board approved Manitoba Telephone System move to speed up Individual Line Service under the Service for the Future program. The plan aims to replace multi party lines with digital switching by 1996 and benefits 502 rural customers in Beulah Bowsman and Darlingford.

Digital switch rollout expands to Manitoba communities

MTS moves to 1989 for Individual Line Service implementation with 57 multi party customers in the Ver non Alpine and Transcona South wire centres in Winnipeg to be converted. Reg Bird says communities will shift forward. Reston and Cromer moved to 1990 from 1991. Mr Findlay endorses the rural service upgrade and provincial government support.
