Smoking blamed for recent fire at vacant residence

Firefighters in Rossburn responded to their 16th call of the year for a house fire at a vacant home on Victoria Ave West. Fire Chief Larry Sidoryk cited careless smoking by an intoxicated male in an unattended abandoned house as the cause. RCMP Sgt Don Roy noted the fire began around 5 p.m. and was extinguished by 6 p.m.

By law advances poll and other council actions in Rossburn

Rossburn RM council passed By-law 1208 to set an advance poll under the Local Authorities Election Act. It approved MTS cable burial under easement with cleanup, reviewed Crown Land sale NE 29-21-24WPM to Calvin Pawluk with a 300 ft bush strip, set election worker pay, and scheduled a tax roll board of revision for Nov 13 1989. The meeting included grant to Rossburn Agricultural Society and a protest letter to Don Mazankowski over Grain Cash Advance policy.
