Charges laid after weapon and assault incident in Rossburn
The Rossburn RCMP investigated an Oct 9 incident involving possession of a weapon and assault with charges laid. On Oct 9 officers also investigated a non injury accident near Silverton. The next day an impaired driver in Rossburn RM and a disturbance on Lizard Point Reserve were reported. On Oct 11 a licenseless driver case under the Highway Traffic Act was handled. A non injury collision south on Highway 359 occurred the same day. Oct 12 saw a report of fence posts pulled on the L.G.D. of Park. Oct 13 involved a request from Wisconsin for a runaway juvenile wanting to return to Lizard Point Reserve.

Boychuk Museum Relocated and Restored in Rossburn
The Boychuk Museum built by the late Harry Boychuk of Rossburn is being restored and moved indoors to a new site in Rossburn with a $6,000 government grant. The move preserves the park-like exterior feel as painter Terry Stefanik works on a mural. The project aims for completion by mid December though the Ukrainian exhibit likely won’t open this year.

UNICEF Coin Boxes Drive Powers October Fundraising
Canadian UNICEF volunteers raise funds with school coin boxes each Halloween. In Manitoba Rossburn Elementary School collects about 200 boxes from kindergarten to grade 8, typically gathering 200 to 250 dollars per year. After Halloween students roll coins, deposit them to the student council, and send one cheque to the Manitoba UNICEF Committee in Winnipeg.

Manitoba Clocks Revert To Standard Time In October
Clocks in Manitoba move back one hour in the early morning of Sunday October 25 as standard time returns after daylight saving. The Official Time Act set daylight saving to start the first Sunday in April, while the return to standard time remains on the last Sunday in October with clocks turning back at 3 a.m. to 2 a.m.
