Hospital Shower Draws Wide Community Support

A town hall shower on October 12 raised 15.67 from lunch and collected numerous donations of groceries canned goods and personal items for the Rossburn Hospital Aid. Donors include Mrs Caldwell J Sherritt Miss B Cormack H Taylor and many others with items ranging from fruit juice soap to jam and towels. The October Rossburn Hospital Aid meeting will be held October 21 at 8 p m at Mrs Jim Smiths home with thanks extended to all contributors.

Mrs M H Turnbull Rites Held at Angusville Church

The funeral for Mrs. M H Turnbull wife of the late James L Turnbull occurred Wednesday at Angusville United Church. She was 68 and a Seeburn School graduate with deep church ties and life membership in the Women’s Missionary Society. Survived by two daughters Mary and Jessie and son Arthur, she left nine grandchildren and two brothers John and George Bell. Interment followed at Silver Creek Cemetery with Rev G W Tindale officiating.

A daughter was born at Rossburn Hospital to Mr and Mrs Charlie Kolesky on October 16. The baby is reported in good health and is welcomed to the family by relatives and friends.

Teachers Hold Convention At Russell Last Week

The Western Marquette Teachers Association met in Russell with 96 teachers attending. The opening session featured greetings from the president and Russell officials. educators from the Department of Education spoke in the afternoon. Dr. J. R. Evans of Brandon College gave a banquet address on learning to leave a legacy. A Friday discussion proposed a local plan to raise and equalize testing standards using a common examination.

Shower In Honor Of Mary Dunits

A shower in honor of Mary Dunits bride elect was held in October. Guests arrived to find a corsage and escort to a decorated chair. Corsages were worn by Mary’s mother Helen Dunits and Mary Kaskiw. Gifts were presented by Irene Piasta and Agnes Shewchuk as Gail Woycheshin and Clarence Kaskiw arrived with gifts. Guests assisted in unwrapping. Mary thanked everyone and a choir sang. A lunch followed with 85 ladies signing the guest book.
