Laurie Ernest Collins a 25 year old Rossburn mechanic was found dead in his car from probable carbon monoxide poisoning near Rossburn on Oct 4. A coroner's inquiry is set for Oct 15. He was highly regarded for his skill and willingness to help, survived by his parents two brothers and four sisters, with a funeral held Oct 7 at Rossburn United Church.

Legion Plans For Armistice Day in Rossburn
An enthusiastic Rossburn Branch Canadian Legion meeting outlined events for Armistice Day including a Banquet and Dance on November 10 with Comrades Wilson Stitt Walter Baker Peter Wladyka and James Frost as committee members. Remembrance Day service is set for November 11 at the Rossburn Town Hall under arrangements led by Fred Hodgkinson Harry Middlemass and Everett Taylor. The hall will host St John Ambulance classes and a fall tea is planned later this month led by Bob Alexander James Frost Harris Huston and the President.

Rally Service Well Attended at Rossburn Pentecostal Sunday School
Sunday Oct 4 Rally Day and Promotion Sunday drew a record crowd at Rossburn Pentecostal Sunday School. Special numbers featured Rhoda Sherritt at three, Douglas Barclay, Shel don Brown, and a Young People's Choir piece Jesus Saves. Promotions moved children to new classes and teachers welcomed pupils for the coming year.

Youngsters Raise 26 for Polio Fund
A week ago energetic youngsters sent 26.00 to the Polio Fund. Leslie Andrew grew pumpkins and netted 8.00. Keith Flyers Jean Andrew and Florence Coughlan ran a Freshie Stand raising 7.75. Mrs. R Brown donated a 50 lb pumpkin and tickets raised 10.25. Adolph Werbowski held the lucky ticket. M Chomica won 2 lbs of candy as second prize and Thos Armstrong won the smaller pumpkin. The children thank all who aided them.

Poppy Sales to Rise as Legion Names Campaign Chief
