About 400 people gathered at the Parish Halls in Oakburn for the first joint Pelly Trail School Division graduation. Principal W. H. Sametz chaired. the event featured 22 graduates, prize scholarships, and speeches by Professor J. A. Voth.

The largest cabbage ever seen by our editor weighed 20 pounds and stretched 49 inches around. Grown by Mr and Mrs Wm Kozak in Birdtail district. Also listed are a 2 pound carrot from Matt Malaniuk garden and a 12 pounds 3 ounce Turnip plus 2 pounds 5 ounce carrot from Doug Cormack. We doubt any records will be beaten.

Graduation Address Encourages Forward Growth and Service
Mr Voth urged graduates and all listeners to raise life standards to match the western hemisphere, stressing education and better facilities for youth. He urged a future blueprint aligned with spiritual and community needs and pointed to Jesus Christ and Heaven as guiding markers. Principal Denham of Rossburn applauded the speech. Oakburn high school girls choir performed two selections before a festive graduation ball drew the exercises to a close.

Provincial Field Commissioner visits Rossburn Cub Pack and Scout Troop
The 1st Rossburn Cub Pack reorganized after many leaders joined the Scout Troop. Eighteen boys enrolled in the Troop as R. E. Yates visits from 7 to 9 p.m. for meetings at Rossburn School. Membership fee is 1.50 covering World Bureau and National HQ services, insurance, and provincial service. no boy is excluded for inability to pay.

Rossburn Game and Fish holds executive meeting on golf project
The Rossburn Game and Fish Association met at the Rossburn Hotel on Sept 29 to authorize a nine hole golf course at Fish Lake. They discussed land purchase at 31500 with a three year lease, funding via memberships, green fees, and a six member golf committee plus the associations president. They also approved purchasing part of SW 24 20 24 for 1500 and expanding the investigating committee to organize the Golf Club.
