Rossburn Village Council votes on recreation plans and lights

The Rossburn Village Council met November 21 1967 with Mayor Wladyka and five councillors. They adopted the October financial report and the recreation commission report, approved the constable's leave, set ice time for skating, waived ice rental for the skating club with season tickets, and ordered parking and speed signs. Manitoba Hydro street light changes were authorized and Vernon Hamilton hired as rink caretaker for 1967 68 at 125 monthly. Bills were approved and the next meeting set for December 19 1967.

UCYY REPORTS SECOND MEETING WITH ELMED CONVENTION UPDATE

The UCYY held its second meeting on Nov 21 with 14 members. Ernie Werbowski reported on the Elphinstone convention and announced that Ernie and Sharon, both running for king and queen, lost in Division 3. An upcoming money raising dance was proposed and a new committee was formed with Betty Ann Slow as President and Joan Glushka as Secretary.

Vista W I Ends Meetings After Membership Decline

The November Vista Women's Institute meeting at Mrs. L Hrysak’s home discussed reports from conventions and a Russ ell board meeting. Due to low membership they planned a drive which failed and then decided to discontinue meetings for the time being. Founded in 1955 the group thanked supporters and the editor for space in the paper.

Rossburn Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting Notes 1967

The Rossburn Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting November 23 at the Town Hall with low attendance. Officers for 1968 include Pres Gordon Fulford Sec Bert Labossiere Treas Adam Charchuk Vice Pres Con Erickson and several directors. Committees reported on Christmas promotion plans and the Cheese Plant project, with progress and challenges noted. The Agricultural and Civic committees highlighted activities and plans for 1968, including a two day Dairy Seminar and ongoing town promotion efforts. Steel Annex At Rossburn Pool Buckles Spills Grain

A steel annex at the Rossburn Pool Elevator buckled around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, cracking about two thirds up and spilling grain on the ground and tracks. About 15,000 bushels of wheat were inside, but actual loss was negligible. A repair crew is slated to start next week.
