In the rural Municipality of Rees turnout totaled 1109 votes with 724 cast for Reeve and 385 for councilors across two wards. The results indicate Reeve victory and council races decided locally. Both wards report clear tallies from the poll.
Mr Gordon McIntyre spent the week end in Vista. Mrs R Peden and Mrs Qeave shuttle passengers to Winnipeg. Joiner of Birdtail Pen visited her daughter Eunice in town. Passengers to Winnipeg include W McIntosh and Bob Lindsay. Phylis Black of Binsearth spent the weekend with relatives. Lloyd Douglas has returned home after his discharge. Bertie of Carnduff, visiting his sister Mrs E Hicks, returned home Tuesday. Mr and Mrs Bingham of Norquay have taken temporary residence. Mr Bingham is relieving agent for Canadian Consolidated Elevator Co. Wes Strong has returned home from hospital.
The death of Thomas Robert Irwin at 49 shocks Rossburn and district after being found near the C N R track at Russell and dying in hospital. He had worked on the B and B gang at Russell and leaves three brothers and three sisters in Manitoba and Winnipeg. The funeral will be at United Church Wednesday at 2 pm followed by Rossburn cemetery interment, with a bean supper in the town hall basement hosted by the Ladies Aid.
The Agricultural Sourie event opens in Rossburn from November 26 to December, with registration Monday. Sponsored by the Rossburn Agricultural Society and Manitoba Extension Service, instructors include A Korora on poultry, C E Bates in Livestock, M M Kavalec on clothing and home furnishings, and senior girls in a junior sewing course.
Joseph Peden thanks Rossburn citizens for a magnificent municipal election victory and pledges to support any project aimed at the village's betterment as he takes on council duties.
A local family, Mr. and Mrs J. G Sit, announce the birth of a son. The gender and parent names are noted as part of a traditional birth notice in the community announcement.
