Moratorium Urged On Branch Line Abandonments

The Liberal Association meeting in Strathclair heard a call to pause rail line abandonments. A resolution urged Canada to create a separate long term authority to study and manage branch line closures, arguing current boards lack sociological and economic perspective.

4 H Club News at Rossburn and Dairy Club Meeting

The peak of the Rossburn and Dairy Club meeting at the school drew 14 members. Officers elected include President Wayne Carson, Vice President Gordon Williamson, Secretary Carol Garnick, Reporters Ron Taylor and Ken Hamilton. Leaders chosen were Mr. Pat Johnston, Mr. H Huston and Mr. Doug Andrew. Four teams were selected to canvass for the Children's Air Society on Saturday November 23.

Man Rescues Injured Duck On Lake Edges

Mr P K Maduke found a wing injured duck on November 20 near his lake. He captured the drake and nursed it at home. The bird recovered and will be kept on his farm for winter before spring release. tagging information 617-37043 provided.

Rossburn Club Hosts Evening of Whist and Games

Members of the Rossburn Beef and Dairy Club sponsor a game night in the Town Hall basement on Friday November 29 at 8 00 pm. Lunch is served and admission is 25 cents. Everyone welcome.

Organization Meet For U C

The re organization meeting of the U C Y was held in the Parish Hall Tuesday Nov. 26. Fourteen members were present. Officers elected were Elizabeth Glushka as president Johnitty Ryshytylo as vice president Ann Kozan secretary Don Charney treasurer Colleen Lazaruk reporter Carol Gurnick and auditors Joe Gehsorik and Robert Stupinsky. Ideas were discussed for money raising projects and the group will meet every Tuesday.

Pelly Trail Teachers Meet at Rossburn

A Pelly Trail Division Association No. 37 meeting in Rossburn on November 16 discussed Resolution 55 on professional status for Manitoba teachers and pension improvements. Sections on Grade 1 4 Grade 1 8 and High School planned future discussions and a Secondary Teachers' Association with a Dec 10 meeting in Rossburn.

4H Club canvass raises funds for Children's Aid

The Aid Society reports money was raised on Saturday during a canvass by the local 4H Club. Appreciation is extended to the 4H Club for their effort and support of the Children's Aid initiative.

Mrs. T. O. Miller Funeral Held in Manitoba

Funeral services for Mrs. T. O. Miller were conducted in Winnipeg and Vista with Rev. Onions and Rev. Fulford officiating. Pallbearers included R. J. Alexander and Frank Steele. Interment followed at Rossburn Cemetery. The 71 year old, born in England, had ties to Vista Gimli and taught before marrying Theodore Miller in 1913. She survived by two daughters, a son, nine grandchildren, and two brothers.
