Rossburn school auditorium hosted a joint Scouts and Cubs meeting led by Commissioner Yates on November 13. Cubs learned skill games while Scouts reviewed First Class requirements. a film from the 1961 Ottawa Jamboree showcased camp life. A new monthly magazine The Canadian Boy was shown. fundraising plans included a Christmas cake raffle and chocolates. Next meeting is November 27.

B Bell of Marsh Mc Lennan Insurance Brokers explained their program sponsored by Associated Hospitals of Manitoba and Labovich urged full coverage. Motion Lawless seconded by Hrysak to follow the program and to appoint N Stupinsky as local Marsh McLennan contact agent. Minutes of prior meeting approved. financial report accepted. All further business postponed to next meeting.

Mortgage Burned At Oakburn Elevator Association Meeting
Large attendance at the annual Oakburn Pool Elevator Association meeting held in the Ukrainian Catholic Parish Hall. The mortgage was burned during the ceremony as Harry Boychuk presided. officers and members reviewed 1940 origins, assets of 34000 with 900 in reserve, four and a half million bushels handled, 87000 in dividends, and a 1.95 cent per bushel net surplus. Board members elected included Harry Boychuk, John Muzylowski, Dick Drul, Peter Migas, Peter Maliation. Garry Dunitz named convention delegate.

The Rural Municipality of Rossburn Council met November 12 1963 in the council chambers with Reeve absent and Deputy Reeve presiding. They approved minutes, adopted the October financial report, approved a $25 road diversion purchase, provided grants to the Salvation Army and 4-H Clubs, passed machinery reserve fund by law, accepted a councilor’s resignation with upcoming by elections, approved a land sale offer, invited bids for a snowblower operator, granted a holiday bonus to the patrol operator, agreed on a road diversion exchange, approved bills totaling 38843.90, and adjourned to December 10 1963.

Obituary for Mrs Olena Yanyk of Oakburn Manitoba Canada
Mrs Olena Yanyk of Oakburn Manitoba died November 12 at Dauphin hospital after a short illness. Born in Western Ukraine in 1884 she was the widow of Alex Yanyk who died in 1928. She farmed north of Oakburn before moving to town, was a member of the Ukr Greek Catholic church and Sacred Heart Society. Funeral services were at the Ukr Greek Catholic church with Rev R Zakrewsky officiating. Interment followed in Oakburn local cemetery. Pallbearers included Peter Leskiw Dauphin Peter Hrynkiw Brandon Stan Woytowich Oakburn John Chekowski Selkirk Peter Moroz Gilbert Plains and Melvin Leskiw Dauphin. Survived by seven daughters Rose Woytowich Caroline Leskiw Vera Moroz Nell Woytowich Anne Hrynkiw John and Mike. Twenty six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Raginski Funeral Home Oakburn handled arrangements.
