Michalyshyn Bros Capture Royal Winter Fair Percheron Honors

Michalyshyn Bros of Oakburn and Brandon dominated the 1964 Toronto Royal Winter Fair heavy horse show. Their senior stallion Justamere Par Excellent was named grand champion Percheron after winning his section and then senior champion. The entry also won first prize in the get of sire competition with three animals.

Boychuks Celebrate 35th Wedding Anniversary at Rossburn Home

A surprise gathering honored Mr. and Mrs. Harry Boychuk on their 35th anniversary at their Rossburn home. Guests included Mike Antonin, Mike Tokar, and family members from Winnipeg Shoal Lake Birtle and Russell. A dinner and short program followed a 1964 observance with congratulations from local officials and friends.

Local Lions Club Marks Fourth Anniversary Banquet

The Local Lions Club observed its fourth anniversary on Monday November 16 with a banquet and dance at the Rossburn Town Hall for members wives and guests. A turkey supper was served by Rossburn W.1. District Governor Miles Phillips of Boissevain spoke on The Challenge of Lionism and urged expansion of the club’s global mission. Two new members Conrad Erickson and Don Smith were inducted with Norman Major and Orest Smycnnik assisting. Attendance pins were awarded to several Lions including Harry Aylwin Norman Clabley George Norman Major Earl Moffat and others. Lions Dick Edmundson brought greetings from Shoal Lake Lions. The event closed with music from the CKDM Country Playboys.

Christmas Concert Scheduled by Lions Club in Rossburn

The Boys and Girls Committee of the Lions Club sponsors a Christmas Concert on Tuesday December 22 at 8:00 p.m. in the Rossburn Town Hall. Lion Conrad Erickson coordinates the event and invites donations and any program items from groups or individuals.

At a Rossburn Lions Club meeting it was decided to call a general gathering of all interested in Minor Hockey for Saturday evening November 28 at 8 00 p m in the Skating Rink waiting room if heated All players parents Lions and others interested in promoting Minor Hockey are invited to attend.

Death notice for John M Peech of Oakburn age 27

John M Peech son of Mr and Mrs Mike Peech of Oakburn died at St Boniface Hospital after a short illness. Born August 28 1937 in Rossburn municipality he was 27. He farmed with his father and worked in Winnipeg. Prayers were said November 12 at Ukr National Home Oakburn and funeral followed at Ukr Greek Orthodox Church. Interment at the local cemetery. Pallbearers listed. Raginski Funeral Home Oakburn handled arrangements.
