Manitoba Chamber Convention at Neepawa in Heavy Snow

The 25th annual Manitoba Chambers of Commerce convention at Neepawa drew 173 delegates from 51 chambers despite roads being impassable or blocked by record snowfall. Allan Watson chaired the closing session, with leaders like Jon R. Robertson and Hon. Robiner among speakers. The program featured two popular symposia, 75 resolutions debated, and a closing tribute to press, radio, and TV for publicizing chamber activities.

The Pool Elevator Association held its annual meeting in Rossburn Town Hall on November 16 with small attendance. C. C. Hurst was the main speaker and E. Caldowell reported on the delegate's meeting. Total grain handled Aug 1 to July 31 reached 210 000 bushels. operating profit was 14921 dollars, yielding a December cash dividend of 12706 dollars for 1953-54. One junior director, Eugene Caldwell, was added. banquet cancelled due to weather.

Foresters Elect New Officers in Rossburn

The Canadian Order of Foresters in Rossburn held its Elec ing and Installation meeting on Monday November 14. Officers elected included Chief Ranger Gordon Ament, Vice Chief Ranger Robert Young, Recording Sec Len Selby, Financial Sec Ronald Hamilton, and Hugh Temperton District Supervisor. Carl Munson was guest speaker. visitors from Strathclair attended. A donation was voted for a wheelchair for the hospital.

School Grade IX and X party at Ukrainian Parish Hall

A small turnout attended the Grade IX and X party in the Ukrainian Parish Hall on Monday from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Teachers Miss Finlay, Mr. Rogan, and Mr. Murphy joined the evening of dancing and games.

Mr and Mrs M D Hamilton celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on November 21. The Vista Y P A met at Mr Harvey Hamilton s home Sunday night and will lead the church service November 27 at 2 45 p m. Mr C Halliday and Miss N Halliday visited Brandon on Monday. Despite bad weather a good crowd attended Friday s dance.

Steve Lazaruk celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary with a Nov 12 party at the Ukr National Home, receiving a silver chest. Oakburn residents and relatives noted visits from Nestor and Donald Hrytsak of Winnipeg, J W Smith’s Winnipeg trip, and a local marriage of Tony Skavinski (nee Margie Dnistranski) at Oakburn Roman Catholic Church on Nov 15. Numerous Winnipeg visitors, including J N Mandzuik and Ronald Zapski, spent weekends with Oakburn families.

Rossburn couple marks twenty fifth wedding anniversary

Mr and Mrs Mike Fiel of Rossburn celebrated their twenty fifth wedding anniversary on November 8. A surprise gift of silverware from family and a dinnerware set from guests were presented. The couple expressed thanks and a delicious lunch was served to all attendees.
