Social Credit Convention Held at Brandon

Manitoba Social Credit League held its annual convention in Brandon on November 8 9 drawing a large crowd. E G Hansell national league president addressed the meeting praising social credit as a twenty year crusade for mankind and eternal principles guiding human dignity and freedom.

High School Examinations and Activities This Week

Week of the 14th saw high school examinations begin while Thursday featured square dancing for Grade IX in the hall with about 50 pupils and five cent admission. Pupils bought puppies, Junior Red Cross officer elections occurred for Grades III/IV and VII/VIII, tea raised $30, jelly bean contest won by Mrs Hutton, Grade I/II wish Marleen Lukianchuk a speedy recovery, fall exams continued with results due next week.

Rossburn Memorial Service and community notices

Memorial service in Rossburn by the Canadian Legion with attendance by all, Sargeant Major Harris in command. Town hall filled for Remembrance Day observances held Nov 5 and Nov 10. Banquet and annual meeting of the Rossburn Pool Elevator Association drew about seventy five attendees. Millicent Sidlar visited Winnipeg. Tony Melnyk and Olga Lazaruk wed on November 15. A 25th wedding anniversary celebrated for Mr and Mrs M Woytowich with relatives and friends in hall. Birdtail note.

The United Church WA and WMS held their monthly meeting on Tuesday November 5. Mrs Langridge outlined the Passion Play she attended. Carpets for the choir loft are to be purchased. Mrs O Elvers won the hostess prize.

Remembrance Day Banquet and War Memorial Service Held

The Legion held a Banquet on Thursday Nov. 10 at Town Hall with about seventy attendees. Comrade R. G. Smellie of Russell was guest speaker. About 150 attended the dance later in the evening to Dane McIntyre's Orchestra. A Friday morning service for the fallen in the two world wars drew good attendance.

Vista W I elect officers at 1955 meeting

The Vista Women’s Institute held its annual gathering at Mrs. Florence McPhail’s home on November 10, 1955 with 12 members and one visitor. Officers elected include President Florence Stitt est, Vice President Florence McPhail, 2nd Vice President Joan, Secretary Ruth Rogers, Directors Jessie Mackedenski Dorothy Chegwin and Dorothy Armstrong, Reporter Gwen Hamilton, Pianist Florence McPhail. The group plans a Korean clothing drive and a December 8 meeting at Florence Stitt’s home, with contributions accepted by November 19. A short anecdote about a boy and a hammer closed the piece.

Rossburn 4H Calf Club Annual Meeting Highlights

The Rossburn 4H Calf Club met November 8 at 8 pm in Rossburn School with 18 members and parents. Kenneth Caldwell reported last year's activities. officers were elected: President John Mitchell, Vice President Stewart Chegwin, Secretary Treasurer Norman Mitchell, Reporter Darlene Mitchell, Leader Bert Mitchell, Assistant Harris Huston, Welland Stonehouse Agricultural Rep from Shoal Lake. A 4H Club Rally slide presentation at Birtle followed, then lunch was served.

Chuhai Shwaluke wed in Manitoba church ceremony

Elizabeth Ann Chuhai and Michael J. Shwaluke were married at Menzie Greek Catholic Church on Saturday October 22 at 4 p.m. Rev A Luhowy officiated with assistance.
