Rossburn Legion Banquet And Zone Memorial Service
The Rossburn Branch 40 of the Royal Canadian Legion held its 44th annual Banquet and dance on November 8 at the Rossburn Town Hall with Lieut. Commander Harris Huston as MC. Rev. Hyett from Russell gave a Remembrance Day speech while ladies prepared a longtime favorite dinner. A later dance featured Bob Corley’s Orchestra. On November 10 Veterans gathered for the Zone Memorial Service, moved to Sunday for attendance, with parade led by the Birtle Bugle Band and Color Party, poppies laid by Miss Margaret Hay and Mrs Joyce Maxwell, a joint religious service, and a cenotaph salute before Zone Commander S. Stitt attended.

Remembrance Day Service Notes From Rossburn Area
The High School reports strong Parent Night turnout on November 12 with teachers addressing student issues. Gratitude extended to Rossburn Legion, Mr. Huston, Mr. Harris, and Rev. Fulford for Remembrance Day participation. Father Lelsky unable to attend. The school choir of about 30 girls, led by Miss Tellier, will perform November 15 at Oakburn Parish Hall to aid retired children, inviting community attendance and support. Sporting events are quiet, with activity not resuming until late December for divisional basketball.

Grand Opening Texaco Service Station North of Rossburn
The official opening of Matt McKietiuk s Texaco Service Station on the highway north of Rossburn drew over 300 attendees. The 50 by 75 foot quonset building, built by Komhyr Construction, will add a coffee bar by year end. Draw winners were Mike Sotas for first, Mike Chomica second, and John Semeniuk third. The shop offers full repair services with Harry Melnyk as mechanic. coffee and doughnuts greeted guests.

College activities bustle with games and Sadie Hawkins plans

The Cooking School held last Thursday afternoon in the Ressburn Town Hall was very well attended. The Marshall- Wells Store and the Manitoba Hydro extend a special thank you for the strong turnout of ladies who helped make the event a success. Stothard Guest Speaker At Sportsmans Banquet
Henry Stothard, CKX announcer, headlined a Saturday Sportsman Banquet at the Ukrainian National Home in Angusville honoring the Angusville Cardinals and Manitoba Baseball Association finalists. Nearly 150 attended as club members received trophies, and A Chaytor won a television set in the event’s draw.
