War veteran Thomas Craig Mitchel dies in Rossburn

Rossburn residents mourn the death of 35 year old Thomas Craig Mitchel who served with the Fort Garry Horse from 1941. He saw action in France and was wounded in Holland on February 21 1945. He leaves a widow Agnes two daughters Mavis and Gertrude a son Barrie his mother and four brothers and two sisters. A military funeral will be held in the town hall Thursday at 2 p.m. November 20.

Local Red Cross Elects New Officers

A surprise gathering at Mr and Mrs H Miller's home Wednesday evening featured gifts of an electric lamp and iron from valley friends. The event included games, singing, and a dainty lunch. Pioneer Oakburn resident Mrs Luhowy dies at 74

Mrs Appolonia Luhowy widow of Panko Luhowy died at her Oakburn area farm home on Nov 5 after months of illness. Survived by sons Adam William Michael and four others and by three daughters. Funeral held at Oakburn Greek Catholic church with burial in Oakburn cemetery. She was a pioneer settler cherished by the community.
