Rossburn RM Council Hires Snow Plow Aid and Grants
The Rossburn Rural Municipality holds its November meeting with four councillors present. The agenda covers a October financial report, a $30 adjustment payment for road diversion, grants to Salvation Army and St John Ambulance, a 50 50 snow plow grant request not to exceed $1000, and a program to hire government snow plowing equipment if municipal work falls short. Bills totaling $31 881.81 are approved and the council adjourns to December 11, 1962.

Christening Held for Mickey William Strank at Greek Orthodox Church

John Swereda Rites Held for Longtime Shoal Lake Resident
John Swereda 73 died October 29 at Hamiota Hospital. Born in Ukraine he came to Canada in 1898, lived in Shoal Lake and Marco district, retiring to Shoal Lake in 1959. Survived by wife Tily five sons and six daughters including Anne Wasyluck Nellie Chegus Stella Allum Rose Moore Gladys Herchak Helen and 28 grandchildren. Prayers at Ukrainian National Home Shoal Lake October 31 and funeral at St Josephat Ukrainian Greek Catholic church November 1 conducted by Rev P Romanyshyn. Interment Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers were Stanley Mike George Peter Joe and Fred Aslum. Rae's Funeral Home in charge.

Linen Shower Honors Miss Pat Bourgoin At Dobson Home
Friends and co workers gathered at Mrs T Dobson s home to honor Miss Pat Bourgoin with a linen shower. Pat rode in a decorated chair as a wagon carried gifts presented by Master Connor Dobson and Miss Linda Matusko after an address by Miss G Mitchell. A dainty lunch ended the pleasant evening.

The Vista U C W met at Mrs. MacPhail's home with 9 members and 2 visitors. December Roll Call will be a gift to the local hospital, collected at the Post Office by Dec 8. Mizpah Benediction closed the session, lunch was served, next gathering is an Xmas party on Dec 5 at Mrs. Hamilton's home.

Church Committee Hosts Successful Bingo and Raffle

On Sunday November 11 Rossburn Branch No 40 of the B E S L under Sgt Major Harris paraded to the Rossburn Town Hall for the Remembrance Day service. About 25 veterans led a town turnout with citizens paying tribute to fallen comrades after the Roll Call and poppy placement by school girls.

Binscarth wins Pelly Trail volleyball title at Rossburn
Rossburn hosted a Pelly Trail division tournament on November 10 with Elphinstone Oakburn Russell Binscarth and Angusville. Binscarth defeated Elphinstone and Russell beat Angusville to reach the finals where Binscarth prevailed. The Binscarth girls are divisional champions and advance to the zone tournament in Birtle on the 17th. The Sadie Hawkins party on November 9 drew large attendance with prize winners Deep Flyer Dick Zaruk and Alarm Clock.
