Remembrance Day Observed in Rossburn Town Hall and School

On Sunday November 5 a large crowd from Rossburn and district attended the Memorial Service at Rossburn Town Hall. Veterans of both world wars gathered for the remembrance event with local residents observing.

Rossburn W I Reports Yearly Activities in 1949 50

The Rossburn W I records eleven meetings with about twelve members and two visitors. They sponsored hospital aid, donated to multiple funds, hosted teas and parties, and contributed to Deer Lodge Hospital and Red Cross. Remembrance events included a Veterans Day service, wreaths, and a Legion banquet raising funds for the skating rink. Proceeds from the Poppy Campaign totaled 101.20.

Rossburn Cemetery Committee Forms In Rural Municipality

A Rossburn area meeting of the Rural Municipality formed a cemetery committee to clean and maintain the Rossburn municipal cemetery. It will raise funds through tag days and donations to hire a permanent caretaker. A tag day is set for Saturday, Nov. 18. The committee: President O. R. Hodge, Secretary J. G. Stitt, Treasurer Wm. Coughlan, Executive Sterling Veitch and Spencer Taylor.

Field Manager Warns Members Not To Be Mis led By Propaganda

About seventy five persons attended the Rossburn Pool Elevator Assoc banquet and annual meeting in Rossburn Town Hall on Tuesday evening. Field Manager Vincent Polloway thanked the ladies, introduced a film on CBC produced programs, and warned members about propaganda from the Farmers Protective Association and Grain Exchange. He cited price stability under the Wheat Board and noted the new annex costing about 14000 dollars with storage for forty thousand bushels.

W Armstrong Elected New C C Curling Club President

Walter Armstrong was elected president of the curling club at a rink meeting last Monday. Russell Hutton became vice president and Len Selby secretary. The Ladies Curling Club will curl with men this winter with at least one lady per rink. Fees set at 10.00 per person, same as men, ladies pay double to 20.00. Next meeting set for Monday November 20 with skips to submit names and a caretaker tender opening. Margaret Cleland leads the Ladies club with Patsy McFarlane and May Lawless as officers.
