Speech Arts festival set for Russell November 18–20
The North Western Mar quette Festival Speech Arts will be held in Russell from November 18 to 20 with English sessions in the Major Pratt School Multi-Purpose Room and French classes on Thursday at St. Lazare School. Entries total 286, up from last year, and adjudicators include William Hart of Dauphin for English and Simone Forest of Souris for French.

Provincial funds Ukrainian language library project announced
Manitoba funding supports the Ukrainian Cultural and Education Centre cataloging 40 000 Ukrainian language titles to improve public access via the centre library and Public Library Services. A 30000 grant finances staff as access expands after completion, with current access limited to 863 rural volumes and smaller counts in Winnipeg and the National Library loan program.

Vista Holstein breeder Ray Brown of Vista exhibited Maycress Highmark Lucy who won Grand Champion Female at the Ag Ex 80 Holstein show on October 30 judged by H Gordon Sutcer. Ridgeville Ultimate Laura shown by Rod Klapka took reserve. Other prizes went to Donsdale Farms Co Donseid Brent Arnold Grand Champion Bull and Narfa Holsteins Denfield Royal Baron. Glen Gurr exhibited best udder cow.
