Russell Chamber of Commerce to mail consumer survey
The Russell and District Chamber of Commerce will mail questionnaires to 800 to 900 households in November 1979. Conducted with the Manitoba Department of Economic Development, the survey covers population characteristics, shopping patterns for about 85 items, and services for seniors. Residents in specified Manitoba rural municipalities and towns and in Saskatchewan exchanges Langenburg and Churchbridge will receive the survey.

CN warns snowmobilers that tracks are for trains
CN warns snowmobilers against using railway rights of way to avoid loss of life and injury. R E Beaty, CN Police regional superintendent, says posters and club visits will spread the message that tracks are for trains not snowmobiles. Illegal trespass carries prosecution and CN will work with local authorities to curb problem.

Manitoba reports 10 000 youth jobs under four programs
Labor minister Ken MacMaster announced about 10 000 Manitoba youth found work last summer through four employment programs run by the Employment and Youth Services branch. The Hire-a-Student program filled 4,534 jobs, with 2,834 regular positions up 57 percent from last year, and 1,700 casual placements. Total cost was 104,000 dollars for 40 job centres operating April 30 to August 10.
