United Church Fowl Supper Nets 206 Dollars

Net proceeds from the United Church Fowl Supper totaled 206 dollars. A post supper concert featured local talent with Mrs. Willerton of Neepawa and Mrs. Hubert of Bethany assisting. Mr H Alston chaired the event with J G Stitt introducing him. The program included musical and comedy numbers, an accordion solo by Nadia Nahirnjak, solos by Alston Leona Hutton John Cormack Mel Stitt Harry Middlemass and Alston in the male quartet. Women's Auxiliary expresses appreciation to all helpers.

Joyce Sitko Weds Arthur Fingas At Inglis Church

Joyce Sitko and Arthur Fingas were married October 9 at Bethany Lutheran Church Inglis with Rev Gaertner officiating. The couple, from Vista and Inglis, planned to live on the groom’s farm after a reception at Vista Hall attended by about 500 guests.

Christ For Everyone Campaign Concludes In October

The Christ For Everyone evangelistic campaign concluded Sunday evening with a service in the Legion Hall. Rev. Kenneth Bunting of Gilbert Plains spoke as a featured participant during the week of meetings. Sponsored by the Pentecostal Church in Rossburn district, the continental effort united thousands of churches across denominations to spread the gospel.

Evangelist Templeton Now In Winnipeg

Winnipeg hosts a two week Evangelistic Mission starting Sunday November 9 at 9 p m in the Civic Auditorium under the United Church of Canada. Rev Charles B Templeton a Presbyterian Church in the United States minister will speak at every meeting. A massed choir leads the music and Mrs Templeton sings as soloist in evening meetings.

Rossburn area sees several business changes and construction updates

In Rossburn, Dutchuk and Wladyka sold their locker plant to Joe Nychuk of Glen Elmo district who will take over late this month. Mike and Harry Verbowsk i bought the International Harvester agency from C A Menzies who retires after forty years. Nearby, Herb Taylor sold his dairy business to Smellie Bros. and Co. and Mike Wolanyk sold his dairy business while continuing milk and cream deliveries from Shoal Lake. New construction includes Lazaruk Brothers cafe foundation and cement work, Anton Varmey excavating for a new building, Pentecostal Church insulation siding progress, Memorial Arena improvements, and James Harlow moving part of the old flour mill to a new site, with skidding planned after the first snowfall.

Memorial Service Set For Armistice Day In Town Hall

The local Canadian Legion commits to an Armistice Day memorial at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday November 11 in the Town hall. The observance features a two minute silence at the proper time, a simple ritual led by Branch Chaplain Com R Barclay with Comrades Cieply and Alston. Poppies and wreaths will adorn the cenotaph, and ex servicemen should muster at the Legion Clubroom by 10:00 a.m. for a solemn remembrance of fallen soldiers.

Matt Chicheluk Olga Sabeski Weds at Angusville United Church

Olga Sabeski daughter of Dan and Mrs Sabeski Angusville exchanged marriage vows with Matt Chicheluk eldest son of Sam and Mrs Chicheluk Rossburn at Angusville United Church on October 23 with Rev Russell Reid officiating. The ceremony featured a bridal satin gown with lace and seed beads, maid of honor May Kaban, bridesmaids Rose Chipelski and Margaret Wolowitz, a flower girl Delores Sabeski, and groom attendants Mike Parabec Adam Chicheluk. A dinner at the bride’s parents and an evening reception followed at the Ukrainian Halls. The couple reside on the groom’s farm.
