Memorial Service in Rossburn Town Hall Attended by 350

The memorial service held in Rossburn Town Hall on Tuesday November 11 drew an estimated 350 attendees including Rossburn School students. Veterans from the Legion Hall joined the service as the honor roll was read and poppies placed on crosses. Wreaths were laid by local officials as the Last Post rang and silence was followed by a Reveille.

Legion Banquet At Rossburn Draws Large Crowd

A large crowd of 111 veterans relatives and friends attended the annual Legion banquet at the Rossburn Town Hall on Monday November 10. Greetings were sent from district Legion branches by visiting comrades. Comrade E Harris gave a reading and Comrade H Alston was guest speaker. A large crowd then attended the dance with hostesses from the United Church Women's Auxiliary.

Pool Elevators In This District Hold Annual Meetings

The Vista Pool Elevator plans its annual meeting on Thursday November 20 at 8 p.m. in the Vista chapter hall. A joint gathering of Rossburn and Birdtail follows November 27 at 5:30 p.m. with a banquet for members and spouses at Rossburn Town Hall. Elections and financial reports are on the agenda.

Amateur Nite Contest In Rossburn For Arena Fund

A group of sponsors announce an Amateur Contest on Friday November 28 at the Rossburn Town Hall to raise funds for the Memorial Arena. Entries must be submitted to Mrs D K Whyte or P McFarlane by 6 p.m. November 26. Popularity prizes of 10 6 and 4 dollars will be awarded to the top three vote getters.

New Phone Books Now Available in Manitoba

A new issue of the Provincial Telephone Directory is now being distributed by Manitoba Telephone System for use until November 1953. Subscribers may pick up copies at local telephone offices, except in areas with community dial offices where the directory is available at local post offices. In Brandon and Portage la Prairie the directory is delivered.

Lazaruk family attends Regina pass-out parade of R.C.M.P. constables

Mr and Mrs John Lazaruk and their son Ernest visited Regina to attend the pass-out parade of several R C M P constables. Morris Lazaruk also took part in the event before visiting relatives for the weekend.

County Lodge Elects Officers At Rossburn Meeting

Twenty five members from Rossburn Silverton Strathclair Birtle and Minnedosa met in the Rossburn Legion Hall for Minnedosa County annual meeting on Thursday November 6 with George Millar and P Anderson from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Manitoba in attendance. New officers include County Master O R Hodge Dep County Master B Skaefe Chaplain T Mitchell Rec Sec J G Stitt Fin Sec and Treas G M Everett Marshall L Selby Lecturers T Ayleit and J N Wellar. Rossburn High School Student Council 1952-53 and Events

The Rossburn High School Student Council for 1952-53 lists Gary Lindsay as president and Gwen Linder as sec treas. Orest Smycniuk is vice president with Greta Williamson as past president. A November 4 party in the science room featured games and dancing. a Silver Tea is planned for November 29 at the Rossburn Town Hall.

The Rossburn Agricultural Society will hold its annual meeting at the Rossburn Town Hall on Monday, November 24 at 8 p.m. All members, directors, and interested citizens are urged to attend.

The Rossburn Women's Institute held in the Club Room on Tuesday November 5 elected new officers for the coming year. Retiring President Mrs. Wilson Stitt and Sec Treas Mrs. Howard McIntosh were thanked. new officers are President Mrs. Jean Cleland Vice President Mrs. S Ukrainetz Sec Vice President Mrs. Alexander Sec Treas Mrs. Nona Peden and Board member Mrs. J Cormack. The group highlights its world wide aims and notes past donations to hospitals Cancer Relief and other causes. A meeting is set for December 2 in the Club Room.
