The 1986 Manitoba report notes 1,937 buses carrying 66,269 students daily for 22.6 million miles with zero fatalities or serious injuries. Accidents dropped to 171 from 183 in 1985, minor injuries down to seven, and damages around 40,850 dollars.
Manitoba MLA Len Derkach criticizes the NDP education package on AIDS, urging frank discussion of homosexuality as a key risk factor. He cites high risk among homosexual teens, drug users, and hemophiliacs and calls for accurate, explicit information to teens in Grades 6 through 12.
Rossburn residents will honor war dead and surviving veterans with a Remembrance Day Service at the Rossburn Town Hall on Wednesday November 11. The Rossburn Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion sponsors the ceremony set for 10 30 a m with schools offices and most businesses closed for the day.
Mr Bob Lepischak of Rossburn son of Mr and Mrs Peter Lepischak was named Science Teacher of the Year for 1987. He teaches at the Neepawa Area Collegiate Institute and received the SAG Conference award in Winnipeg last month. The Science Teachers Association of Manitoba awards it annually since 1982. He said everyone must be made more aware of how science affects daily life as technology grows.
