The Canadian Union of Public Employees signed settlements with seven rural Manitoba hospitals for non professional staff including Portage la Prairie Birtle Grandview Gilbert Plains Glenboro St Claude and Lorne Memorial Swan Lake. Wages rise up to 200 monthly with cost of living adjustment in 1976. contracts run to April 30 1976 covering about 220 employees.

Rossman Lake Camporee proves a success at Rossburn site
The Rossburn Venturer Co hosted the third Rossman Lake Camporee May 16 19 at Rossman Lake west camp site. Sixteen scouts Cubs and Venturers from Kamsack Roblin Dauphin Portage la Prairie Killarney Birtle Oakburn Strathclair Brandon Shilo and Rossburn joined 136 boys and 40 leaders. Activities were well attended and praised in evaluations noting a “super camp” with some minor criticisms. A Portage scout wondered about concessions while a Portage la Prairie attendee noted a sore head relieved by aspirin. One injury occurred when a Portage scout stepped into boiling water requiring sub hospital aid. Gratitude was extended to Dr Chung and community supporters including Rev Lee of Russell.

Recreation Director Hired In Rossburn For Summer
Jack Coulson named Summer Recreation Director for Rossburn by provincial government. He arrives this week and serves until about August 25, planning activities for preschoolers and Senior Citizens.
