May events feature rummage sale and bingo night in Rossburn
The Rossburn United Church Women host a rummage sale and tea on Saturday May 24 in the town hall basement with items left with Mrs Armstrong or Mrs Veitch. Ukrainian National Home Rossburn set an annual meeting for Sunday May 25 with a women’s meeting at 7 P M and general meeting at 8 P M. Lions Club hosts a jackpot bingo Wednesday May 28 at 8 P M in the town hall basement, with 150 dollar jackpots in 49 and 54 numbers. Golf tournament at Rossman Lake set for May 61 and June 1, and Oakburn Fastball Tournament on Sunday June 15. Watch for posters.

Ukrainian Catholic Women's League Meeting Notes May 6
The Ukrainian Catholic Women's League met May 6 at Mrs. Mildred Leschasin's home with nineteen members and one visitor. President Carol Kachan led prayers, minutes were read and adopted, and Angela Ryshytylo acted as secretary. Treasurer Anne Luhowy reported and was approved, Teenie Trakalo gave the hospital report, and Meals on Wheels was discussed. Nellie Kaban donated a jackpot won by Anne Slon. next jackpot will be donated by Mary Smycnnik. Lunch hostesses were Sophie Baubie Anne Stupinsky and Julia Charney. meeting adjourned after prayers and lunch served by Anne Shust Nellie Lazaruk and Elsie Wladyka.

Recreation capital grants total $232,419 across 25 communities
The Tourism Recreation and Cultural Affairs Minister announced final third-series allocations from lottery funds totaling $991,437 under the extended capital recreation facilities grant program. Grants cover 25 percent of project costs up to $20,000, with disbursements in regions outside Winnipeg about $2 per capita. Included are Binscarth artificial ice plant, Grandview Centennial Park, Benito arena, Binscarth curling rink updates, and Gardenton Ukrainian National Home completion.

The Rossburn Rural Municipality council met May 12 in Rossburn Village. Reeve John Mitchell presided as all councillors attended. The minutes were adopted, correspondence accepted, and a grant of 100 dollars to the Rossburn Minor Baseball Association approved for immediate payment.

Mrs Andrew Yanick visited Winnipeg for a long weekend and attended the wedding of Henry Bidochka and Melanie MacClear. She also met with many residents in Selkirk. Rossburn and Lamb families took trips to Los Angeles Disneyland Tijuana San Francisco Portland Seattle Vancouver Banff Calgary and Lake Louise. In Rossburn matters the council discussed invoices payments environmental concerns training by Legal Aid Manitoba welfare by law and master policy inquiries. Council planned June 16 meeting and budgetary statements for each councillor.
