Mrs Elizabeth Drummond 86 years 10 months died last Thursday at the home of her son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Earl Moffat. Funeral held Saturday morning in Portage la Prairie at St Hyacinth Roman Catholic Church with Father Mark officiating.

Rossburn Village Council discusses grants and fire service changes
The Rossburn council met May 20 with Mayor Earl Moffat present. They approved a $10 donation to the Rossburn School Scholarship Fund, four building permits, and a 2a school district transfer to Rossburn Consolidated. Old Age Assistance applications were granted, a gravel tender accepted, and plans to seek Public Works patrol use for street grading. A $5 per hour charge for private fire truck use was set, and a debate on requiring ward or reeve approval for fire response outside village limits concluded the meeting. The council will reconvene June 17.

John Zelinski of Oakburn age 86 died May 9 after a short illness at his residence. The funeral was May 12 at 10 a m in Oakburn Roman Catholic Church with Father Cieply officiating. Burial in Oakburn Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers Dan Mychasin John Kustiak Matt Mychasin Steve Chwaluk Mike Sitko Mike Macyshen. Survived by two daughters Frances Chwalok and Julie Macyshen a son Mike eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Wife Katie predeceased him in 1952 and children Mary Sitke Joe died earlier. Raginski Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Tymko Zapuchlak aged 84 of Sandy Lake died May 2 after a two year illness. Born 1874 he came to Canada in 1900 and settled in Rossburn, later moving to the Menzie District. Survived by wife Nellie six daughters two sons twenty grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Funeral May 5 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Sandy Lake with burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers named.
