The Dauphin Herald reports a new dominion grant of 1800 dollars to aid agricultural fairs. The grant funds permanent improvements and grounds development for the Dauphin Memorial and Community Centre, with a dollar-for-dollar match by the agricultural society. It may provide 9000 over five years if renewed, plus 500 for junior club promotion and up to 200 for hiring judges if societies cannot meet half the cost.
The Commons Election Committee rejected party affiliation on ballots to avoid confusion when multiple candidates run under different labels. The panel also approved a railway style seal for ballot boxes to prevent tampering, replacing older padlocks which sometimes vanished or failed.
Victoria Day closes all stores on May 24. Winnipeg residents Chrissie Brown and Mrs Robi Brown visit family in Winnipeg and Shoal Lake. Pool Elevator district meeting set for June 18 in Rossburn with afternoon and evening sessions. Local events include a movie at Rossbury Theatre May 29 and 31. A new six passenger motor boat debuted at Stewarts Lake. Baseball team played Solsgirth with 4 5 loss and plans a rematch May 27.
The Rossburn ladies honored bride-elect Miss Lillian Urbanoski with a May shower in the club room. Mrs. Win Katchan read the address. Miss Alice Peden and Mrs. L. Duncanson helped open gifts. a dainty lunch followed as Lillian thanked guests.
