Village of Rossburn Council Holds Routine Meeting May 1965
The Village of Rossburn council met May 18 1965 in the council chambers. Members present were Mayor Peter Wiadyka and Councillors Antonin Drosdoski Verbowski Kombyr. Actions included adding several properties to the 1965 tax roll, requesting provincial refunds on gasoline tax for road work, a $50 grant to Ressburn Agricultural Society, building permits for Varney Joiner Trakalo Urbanowski, a $20 grant to Rossburn Student Council, and approving last month’s bills totaling 1699.09. The next meeting was set for June 15 1965 at 8 pm.

The 24th Annual Russell-Roblin District Women's Institute convention met in Rossburn May 12 with Vista and Birdtail as co hosts. 84 members registered. Next year’s 25th will be in Roblin hosted by Deepdale and Makaroff.

Edward Hanlon 79 dies at Rossburn Hospital after long life
Edward Hanlon born in England 1885 came to Canada at 12 and served in World War I with the Winnipeg Rifles 8th Battalion and later the 52nd Battalion. He lived in Rossburn as a harness maker and died May 13 at Rossburn Hospital aged 79 years 7 months. Funeral May 17 Vista United Church with Legion participation. Interment Rossburn Cemetery Rae's Funeral Home Shoal Lake in charge.

On May 14 representatives from several organizations gathered at Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Hrysak’s home to bid farewell to the Clayton family as they move to Arden Manitoba for Mr. Clayton to take a position with Pool Elevator Company. Mrs. Clayton received gifts from the U C W the W L and the Explorers groups. Brent and Douglas got parting tokens from two Cub Pack boys. A social hour followed with lunch and the group sang Auld Lang Syne.

Cynthia Lorene Ostash, infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Silvian Ostash of Selsgirth, received a baptism last Sunday in Birtle. Rev Zak Rewski presided with God-parents Mrs Walter Lepischak of Shoal Lake and Mr Melvin Nacherhiak of Angusville. A christening dinner followed at the infant’s home and a speech by Mr Harry Bochuk of Rossburn concluded the event.
