Budget Home at CNE Aims to Prove Affordable Family Living
The Women’s Division of the Canadian National Exhibition builds a $6,500 five room budget home in the Coliseum West Annex to show a Canadian family can construct a first home today. Visitors can win the house with plans to duplicate it across Canada. Designer John Hall and decorator Cliff Henry head the project with an extensive furnishing display and guidance for do it yourself improvements. Kate Aitken notes steady costs despite forecasts of drops.
