Taxation damages distilling industry and jobs
The Association of Canadian Distillers warns that rising federal taxes on alcohol shrink sales and close plants. From 17.8 million cases in 1981 to 13.7 million last year, a loss of over 20 percent, with five straight years of decline and plant closures. The group says further tax hikes could reduce revenue and devastate hundreds of workers.
