4-H Sewing Sisters Achievement Night in Rossburn
The Rossburn 4H Sewing Sisters held Achievement Night on May 7 at Rossburn Collegiate with a large crowd. Members received red ribbons with some blue. demonstrations by Aylwin, Michalchuk, Radford, Antonin, and Hryciuk led to entries advancing to the 4H Rally at Birtle.

Bride Elect Honored At Shower In Shoal Lake

Rossburn Elementary students earned three firsts at the North-West Marquette Festival in Birtle from May 1 to 7. Grade 1 percussion band placed first with 85 marks, Grade 1 and 2 school choir Grasshoppers and Up the Rickety Staircase scored top with 169, and Grade 5 and 6 choir Come Loyal Hearts and Canadian Boat Song topped with 167.

The Lions Elderly Citizens Housing project reports last week gifts totaling 2500.57 with numerous individuals and groups contributing from Canada and the United States. Cumulative receipts reach 2951.57 with 2.03 in interest and a talent night pledge bringing total cash and telephone pledges to 4344.00 supporting the campaign.

Tax Levy Set At Rural Council Meeting
The Rural Municipality of Rossburn council met May 11 1971 in the council chambers with Reeve John Mitchell and councillors present. They adopted April 30 1971 financials, approved fuel tender from Parkway Cooperative Limited, accepted a land purchase bid by Steve Baydak, noted concerns over beaver management, passed By-Laws 955 and 956, approved survey plans, paid 1971 union dues, prepared for a tax sale if needed, opened highways branch work, proposed a June 8 public auction, allocated funds to a Senior Citizens Home, adopted 1971 estimates and budget, approved payments totaling 5217.98, and adjourned to June 8 1971.
