Manitoba burning permit urged to prevent forest fires
Manitoba Natural Resources Fire Management Officer Bill Shipley warns that human carelessness caused 221 fires by last May and could take 50 to 100 years for affected areas to recover. He urges backcountry travelers to use propane stoves and obtain burning permits. if a canoe capsizes, fires may be built on sandy beaches or flat rocks but must be fully extinguished before leaving.

Paintings donated to Rossburn Health Centre by two artists
Marion Antonin and Olive McTavish of the Rossburn Art Club donated paintings to the Rossburn District Health Centre Auxiliary as part of a 1984 Centennial project. The works were chosen by the Auxiliary and framed at minimal cost, then presented to the Administrator and Board Chairman for display at the hospital.

Pelly Trail Board Rejects Bus Contract Increases And Routes
The Pelly Trail School Division will not grant a percentage raise to bus contractors for 1985 86. The board accepted the Transportation Committee’s plan to add a mid year bid restraint. A Barry Polding kindergarten pupil may ride Route R01 if a two mile north access is available or parents may drive to RU1 at their expense. The division will pick up on B12 if needed. Moran gets extended leave through fall 1986 with potential teaching position and medical clearance in May 1986.

Curling Club Advances Plan for Community Rink
At the Curling Club meeting on April 26 a positive decision was reached to proceed with a community building to house a curling rink. The general membership will meet with the Rural Municipality and Village of Rossburn to discuss mechanical details building concepts and location, said Clem Jean, the club president.
