Parks Canada hikes fees across national parks

Parks Canada announces immediate fee increases for national historic sites and park services, aligning campground and fishing permit costs with outside rates. Camping with services ranges from 12 to 18 dollars daily, fishing permits rise to 10 dollars per year, while many services remain free such as interpretive talks and trails, with Lower Fort Garry entrance set at 2.50.

Dew Drop Inn Reopens in Rossburn Under New Management

The Hornet's Nest in Rossburn reopens as the Dew Drop Inn with new owners Terry Greenhill and Charlene Gensorek from Oakburn and Charlene's daughter Mandy. It opened May 2 with hours 8 to 10 on weekdays and Saturdays and 8:30 to 8 on Sundays. Renovations are planned in the near future.

Rural chemotherapy outreach plan announced in Manitoba

Health Minister Larry Desjardins unveiled a rural treatment program funded at 500000 this year to provide ongoing chemotherapy at designated hospitals outside Winnipeg. The service follows a five year study across five hospitals Brandon Dauphin Flin Flon Thompson and The Pas showing safety and efficacy and aims to cut patient travel and free major centers for complex care.

Armbruster and Butler Named Official RMNP Outfitters

Armbruster and Butler of Rossburn become Zone 2 RMNP outfitters as 1985 tourism begins. They passed a five hour Guide Test covering horses trails first aid fishing and regulations. Armbruster covers Baldy Lake area west of No 10 highway while Butler runs Tilson Trail. Other outfitters join from Shoal Lake Sandy Lake and Clear Lake.

Manitoba expects 796 000 American travelers in 1985 an increase of 10 percent boosting total tourism expenditures to 658 million dollars Government says marketing resources increased with 4 4 million for 1985 86 to grow the U S market Early 1985 data show a two percent rise in overnight U S visitors in the first quarter more tourism support announced by Business Development and Tourism Minister Jerry Storie.
