The Rossburn Cemetery Committee held its annual reorganizational meeting electing Len Selby as Chairman J G Stitt as Vice Chairman and R N Hutton as Treasurer. Members named are Wm Mitchell Spencer Taylor Jack Miller and J W Stitt. The caretaker remains the same with plot rates set at 3 dollars for single graves and 5 dollars for two or more graves. An annual tag day and outside donations allow for a full time caretaker while discussions mention gravel road work from the mile corner to the gate.

Crop Club Meeting Plans Next Session
A joint meeting of the Rossburn Crop Improvement Club and the Pool Elevator Association was held at the Elevator on April 28 with Mr Polo Wag the fieldman attending. Mr Polowag outlined club activities and seed rules. Shoal Lake agriculture rep Welland Stonehouse will attend the next meeting at the Elevator on May 19, 1954.

Canadian doctor appointed to international delegate post
Dr S S Peikoff is named Canada’s official delegate to the International Congress in Brazil from April 26 to May 2. He will present a paper on stomach surgery, with a career rooted in Rossburn where he helped found the first hospital and served as mayor. He holds fellowships in surgical colleges and serves as associate editor of the Manitoba Medical Review and lecturer at the University of Manitoba.

About 1000 delegates from 203 of 209 Manitoba Pool Elevators locals gathered in Brandon for a major farm meeting rejecting Jack Schulz’s compulsory livestock marketing plan. The event reaffirmed support for a live stock marketing board but condemned total control by a central board over prices and sales.
