Nurses Week Recycling Drive Promotes Healthy Environment
The seventh annual Nurses Week runs May 6 to 12 with the theme Nurses Caring About a Healthy Environment. Nurses across Manitoba will collect recyclable materials for the Rainbow Society, host information displays, education sessions, and health assessments, and visit schools and seniors groups. The event is sponsored by MARN and MONA, representing over 13,000 nurses.

Artists in the School fosters Apr 23 27 at Rossburn Elementary
Rossburn Elementary students from kindergarten and up joined the Manitoba Arts Council program Artist in the School during a week in late April. Winnipeg sculptor Dyck led activities using discarded materials to teach observation, color, and creativity. The program began in Cranberry Portage in 1989 and aims to boost awareness and cooperation among youngsters while encouraging recycling and inventive thinking.

Manitoba Hydro to issue Series II HydroBonds on May 18
Manitoba Finance Minister Clayton Manness announced the second annual fully guaranteed HydroBonds series will go on sale May 18 with a competitive initial rate and a minimum guaranteed rate to maturity. The bond issue, limited to Manitoba residents, offers denominations as low as 100 dollars and a maximum purchase of 100 thousand dollars. Public information meetings start May 1 in eight communities.

Weather turns milder as Pacific air moves in
The Western Manitoba area will feel mild Pacific air on Wednesday though temperatures will stay below normal at around 11 to 12 degrees. Tuesday remains cool with possible snow flurries and a high near 3 to 4 degrees. Several centimetres of snow fell over the weekend in the coverage area.
